Confession Time... I Have Been Blind to Some Personal Emotional Trauma

Confession time...

I HAVE BEEN BLIND TO SOME PERSONAL EMOTIONAL TRAUMA 😳

Me ...(the emotional release expert)

See, I like to be a HERMIT. Stay close to home, barely leave the house, stay in my office to learn, write, read, coach, grow, hang with Dave, cuddle with the puppy's. This is my safe space.

I call myself an introverted extrovert.

I can call on the extrovert when needed, but for the most part she can chill.

Then 10 years ago I started to build a business online and I had to force myself to network.

That felt like TORTURE at first.

But, that forced networking led to meeting some of my best friends and colleagues! It also led me to work with some incredible mentors and experience amazing opportunities.

So, as I conquered that fear...

I got pretty good at conventions, speaking on stages, connecting with strangers.

At the peak of my comfort in this new extroverted Jennie, I decided to travel to Florida. Now, this was at a time when travel wasn't really encouraged, but there weren't any rules in place yet... and it was an important business connection that I did not want to miss.

The plan was to get in and out of Florida in under 72 hours.

WRONG.

The short version: I was held against my will for 11 days with a guard outside the door and a threat of federal prison time and a $250,000 fine if I left the room or shared my "being held" on social media.

I was devastated.

They handed me a suicide hotline, a granola bar and locked me up.

ME! Rule following, teacher's pet me.  Locked up.

I used the time productively of course (which I have written about), but something changed in me during that time when I lost my freedom and my voice.

I hadn't connected the dots until recently, but...

Since that trip, I've had a lot of fear around exposure, travel, posting on social media, going live etc.

I used to go live daily. Now it's a rare occasion.

Recently, I worked with a healer while in a deeply relaxed state to clear anything left from that traumatizing event.

Since I work with releasing emotions on a daily basis, I wasn't surprised at the impact that this event had on me, but I was surprised that I hadn't cleared it yet. Especially since I thought I had.

This is often the case with trauma.

We package it up nicely, learn how to talk about it and think we are healed.

So, what made me explore this traumatic experience again?

Well, I was showing up with fear in areas that I thought I had conquered.

If you find yourself having inexplicable reactions to certain events like traveling, speaking, change, prospecting, socializing, answering the phone, swimming, anything...

It could be time to release the emotions around that past event so you can step back into your divine self, more fully and more connected!
